We created this image mostly in Photoshop, adding the type later in Illustrator and printing in using simulated process. Simulated Process is where we use opaque inks blended together when printing to give the wide range of colors in the design. In this case, we used 7 colors - Base White, Red, yellow, green, purple, lt blue and dark blue. We used the shirt fabric (black) for our shadows, letting the fabric show through in the design. We have to print at least 7 shirts before we know how the inks are going to blend. We do this because we build up ink under each screen and after seven we see how the blend is going.
This custom image was printed on the back of Black Jersey Knit Polo shirts.
The artwork took 4 hours to draw. The separations and file set up took another half hour.
