Garden State Safe Lawns Compost Tea
Making the World A Prettier Place one image at a time.
The artwork for Garden State Safe Lawns Compost Tea exemplifies our artwork and our service. Garden Sate Safe Lawns is an organic lawn care company that produces their own compost tea. It is 1005 organic, produces green lawns that stay green even during drought. It is a great concept and company. They had an opportunity to bottle and sell the Tea at a local retail store, but it had to be in the store by Friday Evening. On a late Tuesday Afternoon, Garden State Safe Lawns called to find out if we could design labels for a new product that they needed out by Saturday. This came in the middle of finalizing artwork for the 4 other customers. Sure we said, knowing we had left space in the production calendar to handle these last minute requests.
I designed the label with the following thoughts: It has to have the company’s colors in it; has to identify “Greenness” & mother nature; It has to be inviting to the consumer. The first thing we did was to make the label shape curved, like a women’s curves (thus Mother Nature). We utilized some of the existing logo’s colors and adding some deeper blues and greens to give it a natural, exuberant feel. I was given a free hand on designing this, so I selected typefaces that have never been used for GSSL. After an hour or too… okay, a lot more time than that, including sleeping on it, I came up with the product type as shown. Most of the time, this little area of branding goes through multiple little changes. This time, it was a home run. To grab the consumers attention, I came up with “Let’s Get this Natural Party Started tagline.
Right up to the output of the labels, we where adjusting sizing, content etc., but by Friday at 11:30, we had hundreds of labels ready to go for 1/2 gallon, 1 gallon and product information labels. In total, 3 labels where designed, one for a gallon, one for a half gallon and one with product descriptions and directions.
